St Marys RSL plays host

ST Marys RSL Bowling Club hosted the Nepean District Zone 5 Junior Championship on Saturday.
Players came from as far as Goulburn, Mudgee, Grenfell, Molong and Hazelbrook.
In the singles, Blue Mountains bowler Alex Cross-Lee had a narrow win over Nepean's Trent Whittingham 31-30.
The fours final was won by the Nepean District team (Andrew Bennett, Steven Hauesler, Troy Rodgers and Trent Whittingham) who defeated the Western Districts team of Jamahl Wright, Heather Catt, James Taylor and Jack Taylor 31-11.
In the pairs final, Grenfell's Bradley Galvin and Sam Brown defeated Western Districts' Jack Taylor and Chris Beatty 20-18.
Among the championship umpires were 17-year-old Steven Harkins, one of the first juniors to umpire a district final.
In the Nepean District Singles, St Marys RSL's Steve Davies lost to Penrith's Sean Sommerville 31-18 in the final.
With three rounds of the pennant season remaining, St Marys RSL has moved from sixth place to first and leads Blacktown City BC by one point.
