LETHBRIDGE Park boxing maestro Lawrence Tauasa has shown again why he's a champion.
Tauasa defended his cruiserweight IBF Australasian Championship at an Anzac tribute fight night at Rooty Hill RSL.
He stopped his Argentinian opponent in the second round with a vicious body blow.
"I got on him from go and let him know he was in for a rough time. I didn't give him a chance to get out and set himself," Tauasa said.
"In the first round I dropped him with a straight right to the head but he got up.
"In the second I dropped him again with an overhand right and was given a standing eight count.
"After that, I hit him with the body blow that ended the fight."
Tauasa's original opponent from France pulled out with injury weeks before the bout Tauasa's training was unchanged.
"Going into the fight, I was confident but there's always room for nerves. If you don't get nerves, you're not human," he said.
"I had a good training camp leading up to the fight so everything was good."
Tauasa is in Samoa, enjoying a break from boxing.
He said he wanted to get away for a bit, relax, enjoy himself and not think about fighting.
